Review of Trump’s Second Term
Competence and Common Sense

"It should be borne in mind that there is nothing more difficult to arrange, more doubtful of success, and more dangerous to carry through than initiating changes. The innovator makes enemies of all those who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support is forthcoming from those who would prosper under the new."
Machiavelli
When Donald Trump arrived at the White House in January 2025, he came well-prepared. He and his Chief of Staff, Suzie Wiles, had been working on his second term for four years. He issued 26 executive orders on his first day in office.
The Cabinet had been carefully selected. Every member of the team had already achieved success in their professional lives and were committed to the administration’s ideals.
They were a diverse, competent and talented team. Five of them had written New York Times bestsellers: Marco Rubio, An American Son; J.D. Vance, Hillbilly Elegy; Kristi Noem, Not My First Rodeo; Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Crimes Against Nature; and Pete Hegseth, The War on Warriors.
In reviewing the first couple of years of Trump’s second administration it is worthwhile to examine the contribution of the cabinet secretaries and others who have played a significant role.
I shall also note that promises have been kept - not a common trait among politicians.
Immigration
The border has been closed and many illegal aliens have been deported.
Between 2020 and 2024, 20 million people entered the country illegally.
Kristi Noem was appointed Secretary for Homeland Security with the responsibility to stop the illegal immigration and to identify and deport those who had entered illegally. Kristi is a fifth-generation South Dakota rancher with values to match - hard working, no nonsense, loyal. She took over the family farm in her early twenties when her father died accidentally, drowned in a grain silo. She married her childhood sweetheart and they have three children.
Noem represented South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019 before serving as the state’s first female governor from 2019 until 2025. She was famous during COVID for standing up to Andrew Fauci and insisting that South Dakota did not need the lockdown restrictions he was imposing elsewhere.
Reportedly, she asked Trump for the Homeland portfolio saying that it would need someone with CEO skills and the fortitude to resist political backlash – comments that proved prescient.
She set about rectifying the problems. The borders were closed and soon no-one was arriving. Illegal immigrants were offered a voluntary scheme of departure: a free flight home, US$1,000, and the right to return in future through correct procedures. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, ICE, was expanded to identify and deport those not self-identifying.
ICE did not get support in Democrat states. In fact, there was active and often violent opposition to it. In Minneapolis, in January 2026, two activists, Renée Good and Alex Pretti, were killed during protests. No charges were laid. But Trump moved Noem to a new role - Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas - where she is helping countries of the Western Hemisphere strengthen their border security, immigration and drug control capabilities.
The administration has claimed 2.2 million voluntary departures and 900,000 deportations. Clearly the number of illegal aliens being deported is small compared to the number who arrived in the previous four years. But reducing the number coming in to zero is a big success.
Drug Cartels
Drug cartels have been disrupted and the supply of the deadly fentanyl reduced.
Drug cartels, including the notorious Tren de Aragua, were a major consequence of failed immigration policies. They were disbanded and the villains sent home or to jail at the maximum security prison CECOT in El Salvador. There was also a sustained military campaign, Operation Southern Spear, aimed primarily at sinking fast boats smuggling drugs into Florida.
Fentanyl overdoses had been the cause of nearly 50,000 deaths per year. The precursor chemicals were manufactured in China, shipped to drug cartels in Mexico where the drugs were manufactured, then smuggled into the USA.
Eradication of the problem involved the coordination of multiple agencies. The Department of Homeland Security intercepted fentanyl entering the US; the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated major criminal networks; the Drug Enforcement Administration dismantled trafficking organisations and targeted illegal laboratories; the Department of Justice prosecuted traffickers; and the Department of State worked diplomatically with Mexico, China, and other countries to reduce the supply of precursor chemicals.
Tariffs and Trade
Tariffs have been applied to make international trade fairer and to bring strategic manufacturing home to America.
The theory of free trade, which has served us well since Ricardo, is currently undergoing some important adjustments. The free trade ideal needs to be modified so that you protect your nation’s sovereignty. You need to make sufficient quantities of strategic products domestically so that you are not reliant on your enemies for them. You need to balance your trade so that you are not indebted to foreigners, especially those who might wish to do you harm.
The two cabinet secretaries responsible for tariffs and trade are Howard Lutnick and Scott Bessent working together to encourage domestic production and negotiate improved trade terms with major trading partners.
On September 11, 2001, when terrorists attacked the World Trade Centre, Howard Lutnick was CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald one of the world’s leading electronic bond trading firms. All 658 employees who were in his New York office that morning died. Lutnick survived because he had taken his young son to his first day at kindergarten and arrived later than usual.
Subsequently, Lutnick rebuilt the firm. He also established the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and pledged 25% of the firm's profits for five years for the families of employees who were killed. The total assistance eventually amounted to nearly US$180 million.
As Secretary of Commerce, Lutnick has helped secure major commitments for investment in U.S. manufacturing, energy, semiconductors, and advanced technology projects. He has promoted policies to expand domestic production of strategic products, including semiconductors, critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, and energy infrastructure, with the aim of reducing dependence on overseas suppliers. He has supported tighter export controls on strategic competitors while encouraging investment in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and next-generation manufacturing within the United States.
Secretary of Treasury, Scott Bessent, is well regarded as one of the Administration’s most experienced financial policy makers. He was confirmed by the Senate with bipartisan support, 68-29.
Prior to his appointment, he had four decades in global finance. A graduate of Yale in political science, he had been a senior partner in Soros Fund Management and in 2015 founded the global macro investment firm Key Square Group.
His major achievements as Treasury Secretary include:
Leading the drive to improve government efficiency and reduce waste
Defending the use of tariffs as a means of encouraging domestic production, and negotiating improved trade terms with major trading partners.
Supporting financial stabilization measures in international forums.
Securing and implementing the extension of the 2017 tax reforms and advocating a simpler, more investment-oriented tax system.
Expanding Treasury's use of financial sanctions against Iran and Russia, especially Operation Economic Outcast.
Energy
Regulatory barriers have been reduced so that energy projects can proceed expeditiously. All forms of energy are being positively promoted. LNG exports are up 50%.
Cheap reliable energy is essential for economic productivity. It has been a major contributor to the fabulous increases in well-being across the Western world over the past two centuries. But in recent decades, it has been compromised by ideologically driven energy policies, economically impoverishing nations of the West for no discernible benefits.
“What historians will definitely wonder about in future centuries is how deeply flawed logic, obscured by shrewd and relentless propaganda, actually enabled a coalition of powerful special interests to convince nearly everyone in the world that CO2 from human industry was a dangerous, planet-destroying toxin.
It will be remembered as the greatest mass delusion in the history of the world – that CO2, the life of plants, was considered for a time to be a deadly poison.”
Richard Lindzen, Emeritus Professor of Meteorology, MIT.
One of the Administration’s first actions was to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
Doug Burgum founded the successful ERP software package company Great Plains Software. In 2000, he sold it to Microsoft for US$1.1 billion and became a Senior Vice President at Microsoft. In this role, he acquired the Danish Navision product as well and Microsoft became the world’s leading supplier of ERP software to mid-range companies.
In 2016 he became the Governor of North Dakota. In his two terms as governor, his economic performance was superb: one of the lowest unemployment rates in the US; consistent budget surpluses; income and property tax cuts; the strong promotion of North Dakota’s oil, gas and agricultural industries while also encouraging technology investment and diversification. He launched initiatives to digitise government services; reduce bureaucracy; use performance metrics to measure agencies and to encourage innovation within the public service. He also promoted North Dakota as a centre for drone technology and autonomous systems, an industry in which the state has become a national leader.
When Donald Trump invited him to become Secretary for Energy, he declined saying, “No. The guy you need is Chris Wright.” Trump accepted the advice and then appointed Burgum Secretary for the Interior. Now Burgum and Wright work together to get the most from USA’s energy resources. Whilst Wright determines what energy should be produced and how, Burgum controls where it can be produced. Together, they are reducing regulatory barriers and expanding energy production.
In 1992, Chris Wright founded Pinnacle Technologies whose innovations in hydraulic fracture mapping helped advance the US shale gas revolution. Prior to becoming Secretary for Energy, he was chairman and CEO of Liberty Energy one of North America’s leading hydraulic fracturing companies. He has also been involved in developing geothermal energy and advanced small modular nuclear reactors.
Wright’s energy strategy, detailed in Appendix I, is to promote oil, natural gas, nuclear, geothermal and other reliable energy sources while emphasizing energy security, technological innovation and American energy independence. To keep the public better informed, he commissioned a report by five eminent climate scientists - “A Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate”. Anyone interested in climate science, especially parents, teachers, students and politicians responsible for energy policies, will find this an invaluable resource.
Whilst many of the initiatives of Burgum and Wright will take time to have effect, the future is looking bright. America can look forward to greater prosperity as a result of their work.
Military
The US Military has been revitalised and the results are stunning.
When Pete Hegseth was nominated as Secretary for Defence the Congress vote was tied 50:50 and the confirmation required Vice President J.D. Vance’s casting vote. Many people opined that Defence was not a role for a Fox News commentator. They ignored the fact that he was a Politics graduate from Princeton, had served as an infantry officer and had been awarded two Bronze Star medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and several other military decorations. Much to their chagrin, Hegseth has proved to be a most effective cabinet secretary.
He focused the department on combat readiness. He restored pride in the military by eliminating DEI programs, arguing that the military needed a warrior ethos. He demanded high standards of personal presentation. He said he wanted to see no more beardos or fat generals. He cut the total number of four-star active-duty generals and admirals by 20 per cent, and reduced the number with a one-star rank or above by 10 per cent. One significant effect of these measures was that recruitment, which had been in the doldrums, flourished. It is now the best it has been in 30 years.
Operationally, the military has had some amazing performances.
On 26th June 2025, there was Operation Midnight Hammer with B2 bomber strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
On 3rd January 2026, Operation Absolute Resolve saw the capture of Nicolas Maduro, President of Venezuela.
For a few weeks, commencing on 28th February 2026, Operation Epic Fury, a combined US and Israeli force, destroyed much of Iran’s air defences, missile sites, command centres, military bases and military manufacturing facilities.
From 13th April 2026, US Navy blockaded the Strait of Hormuz preventing Iranian imports and exports of commercial and military material.
Trump had promised that US military power would be strengthened, not for aggression, but as a deterrent. These short, sharp, effective attacks bear that out. Hegseth is implementing what he was asked to do in the way he was asked to do it.
Hegseth has also reorganised the purchasing of military equipment. Firstly there has been an emphasis on drones, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, missile defense and cyber capabilities. Secondly a trusting, collaborative relationship has been established with small, innovative suppliers in preference to cumbersome contracts with large bureaucratic firms. He wants acquisitions within one year, not ten. And he wants stuff delivered on time and on budget.
Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela in June 2026, the US Military played the major role in the humanitarian effort. They reopened and operated the Simon Bolivar International Airport. They used C-17 Globemaster and C-130 Hercules aircraft to transport personnel, vehicles, engineering equipment, medical capabilities and relief supplies. At one stage, nearly 2000 U.S. Military personnel were involved in the relief effort. In addition, the US provided US$386 million in humanitarian support.
Foreign Affairs
Foreign Affairs policy has been characterized by prophylaxis – actions to prevent problems before they become severe.
As Secretary of State, Marco Rubio is primarily responsible. Others playing a significant role have been the Vice President, J.D. Vance, and businessmen Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Witkoff’s long-standing friendship with Trump and Kushner’s son-in-law status give them obvious credibility in diplomatic discussions.
Trained as a lawyer, Marco Rubio has been in politics most of his working life. As US Senator from Florida for fourteen years, he developed a specific expertise in foreign policy which he has now been able to apply as Secretary of State. His erudition was on display recently when he delivered his Remarks from the Acropolis where he traced the roots of Western Civilisation back to ancient Greece and Christianity. He could well be the next President of the United States.
Trump’s negotiating style is to make ambit claims then settle for the satisfactory. In some cases he will pause and return to the fray when conditions are more favourable.
It was untenable that China, who loom as USA’s main adversary for the next few decades, should control the Panama canal - the USA’s trade route to Asia. USA did not need to take over Panama; it just had to take the control of the ports at either end away from China.
The Europeans had been dependent on the American taxpayer to fund their security since WW2. Insisting that NATO increase its military spending was perfectly reasonable, even if J.D. Vance’s speech sounded gauche at the time.
Support for Ukraine must come from European allies. It is not the US’s responsibility. Trump has tried to help. As recently as September 2026, Witkoff and Kushner were involved in talks with both Putin and Zelenskiy with a view to creating a durable peace.
Under the revised Defence Agreement with Greenland, Denmark retains sovereignty and Greenland gains economic opportunities and the potential for future independence. USA wins sole control over military activity forever. From their bases, they will be able to intercept missiles flying across the Arctic, and support global communication facilities. The Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Base) will be modernised and expanded; new US defence areas will be established at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig.
Freeing the hostages in Gaza was a masterstroke. It forced Hamas to relinquish its major tactical weapon and ended the war. Getting Hamas to disarm is taking longer.
Venezuela was a haven for US enemies – China, Russia, and Iran. Hezbollah were there too funding the drug cartels. Not the sort of regimes to have on your doorstep! Capturing Maduro, taking over the oil, and effectively closing down the drug trade was brilliantly organised and most effective. Leaving the rest of the government in place avoided a civil war and will enable Venezuela time to recover. Some of the eight million refugees who have fled the Maduro regime may return to facilitate this process.
Iran War
The tyrannical Iranian regime’s primary goals are to exterminate Israel, dominate the Muslim world and destroy the West. To prevent this, Trump has taken the necessary action that his predecessors shirked.
Directly and through their proxies – Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis – Iran’s fanatics have waged war on their enemies and promoted terrorism throughout the world for half a century. They have disdain for their own people and are prepared to kill and torture them to dissuade protest. International constraints on their behaviour have been ineffective.
Eliminating Iran’s nuclear capability, is essential. As Steve Witkoff said, “Israel is a one bomb country”. A nuclear bomb on Tel Aviv would destroy Israel forever.
The US has two constraints on its military actions. It has committed not to put troops on the ground, and it does not want to destroy the Iranian people’s chance for economic recovery under a new regime.
Trump is using three levers to achieve his objectives.
Operation Epic Fury, the joint operation between USA and Israel, decimated Iran’s military capability.
The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is causing economic damage to Iran of US$500 million per day.
Operation Economic Outcast will restrict Iran’s ability to trade with the rest of the world.
Eventually Iran will no longer be a threat to others, and the Middle East will be a more peaceful and prosperous place. Ideally, the Abraham Accords will enable Israel to cooperate economically with its Arab neighbours to their mutual benefit.
Eliminating Waste, Fraud and Corruption
Profligacy occurs when politicians and bureaucrats spend other people’s money carelessly, fraudulently or to promote themselves or their pet ideas. This administration has made valiant efforts to address these problems. It is unfinished business.
Draining the swamp has proceeded apace. So far, there are 350,000 fewer public servants.
Much was made of DOGE – the department of government efficiency. Elon Musk came and went. The process of auditing of government spending found some surprising results:
Accounting carelessness. Many payments were not tagged with a purchase order reference to say what they were for, nor a general ledger account to identify the nature of the expenditure.
Fraud. Many payments were paid to shell companies which in turn forwarded them to other entities. In some cases, at the end of the chain, the funds were funnelled into campaign contributions. Tracing the eventual beneficiaries is an ongoing process.
Much USAID funding went to projects of little value to US taxpayers. (A translated version of Sesame Street for Iraqis; a project to encourage democracy in India; a transgender opera in Colombia etc.)
Welfare benefits of US$99 million were paid to 4,900 deceased persons.
After overcoming a difficult childhood, J.D. Vance graduated from Yale Law School with a Juris Doctor, joined the prestigious Silicon Valley law firm, Sidley Austin, and then worked for Peter Theil (the founder of PayPal) in venture capital before becoming Senator for Ohio in 2022.
Historically, most Vice-Presidents have had little to do. Not so with J.D. For instance, he was given the job of explaining to NATO that it was time that they paid their own way for defense and did not sponge off American taxpayers. Another of his responsibilities is the War on Fraud.
In Minesota, the Feeding Our Future organisation defrauded the US Department of Agriculture’s child nutrition program of $250 million. The program was administered by the Minnesota Department of Education The fraud involved claims that food was being served to disadvantaged children. Most of the claimed meals never existed. In fact most of the children did not exist either. Aimee Bock, executive director of Feeding Our Future, has been sentenced to 41 years and 8 months in a federal prison; another 79 people have been charged. Apparently, there is no evidence that any public officials participated in the fraud!
There are suggestions that similar frauds are rife in other states. To date, US$230 billion in fraud has been identified.
Education
Education policy is being refocussed to improve literacy and numeracy, and to give students pride in their nation’s history and its political philosophy.
Since the Department of Education was formed in 1980, it has spent US$30 trillion on education programs. The results are not good. Only 30% of students are literate after 12 years of schooling and the figures for numeracy are not much better.
Linda McMahon married her childhood sweetheart, Vince, when she was seventeen and he was twenty-one and they went on to create the extraordinarily successful World Wrestling Federation, WWF. In 2002 it was renamed World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE, to avoid being mistaken for the World Wide Fund for Nature!
McMahon is now Secretary for Education. She has been charged with abolishing the department. She has already halved the staff. Responsibility for education is being transferred to states, local education bodies and to parents.
She has also insisted that Universities address antisemitism; hire on merit; and report foreign funding accurately.
Women’s Rights
Women’s sport has been reserved for biological females.
With regard to women's toilets, changing rooms and other private spaces, Trump has established a federal policy that recognises only two sexes, male and female, and directs federal agencies to interpret sex according to biological sex rather than gender identity. The Supreme Court ratified this in June 2026.
Genuine Admiration
In an interview on India Today on October 24, 2026, Marco Rubio gave the following endorsement of President Trump.
“Well, he's a historic figure. There's no doubt about it. He is not an orthodox political figure. He is not a politician at all. He is a man of business whose intent in life is to make decisions based on what makes sense.
But here's something else he doesn't get credit for. He's a visionary. He imagines what people will say is impossible. He thinks things that people say, "Well, we can't do it because that's never been done before." And then he achieves them.
When you look at issue after issue, what the President has pushed towards and been able to achieve that people didn't think was possible because a traditional political figure would never have done it.
So, I think for those of us who work for him and with him, it gives us energy to know that we have the ability to do things that you would not be able to do under someone who came from a traditional political background.”
Review of Trump's Second Term
Characterised by competence and common sense, this administration has achieved so much in so short a time. Many changes that have been made in the past two years will take another five to ten before their effects are fully felt. Halting illegal immigration; cracking down on the drug trade; increasing America’s strategic manufacturing capabilities; eliminating stultifying regulations; increasing energy output; building citizen’s pride in their country; and educating the young according to the Western canon; will all produce long-term economic and social benefits. Restoring the military as an efficient, warrior style organisation will enable the US to deter aberrant international behaviour.
In our review of Trump’s second term, we see that power has shifted from a self-serving elite of bureaucrats, crony capitalists, academics and commentators to the people and their elected representatives. Political promises are being kept. (Check Appendix II). Trump is initiating action through executive orders. Congress and the courts are modifying them. A diverse, talented and competent cabinet is managing their implementation. Democracy is working fine to the benefit of most citizens.
Appendix I Chris Wright’s Energy Policy
1. Advance energy addition, not subtraction:
Going forward, my department’s goal will be to unleash the great abundance of American energy required to power modern life and to achieve a durable state of American energy dominance.
2. Unleash American energy innovation:
US research and development efforts will prioritise affordable, reliable, and secure energy technologies, including fossil fuels, advanced nuclear, geothermal and hydropower. The US must also prioritise true technological breakthroughs – such as nuclear fusion, high-performance computing, quantum computing, and AI – to maintain America’s global competitiveness.
3. Return to regular order on LNG exports:
America is blessed with abundant energy resources – we are the world’s top oil and gas producer and a net energy exporter for the first time in decades. Our energy abundance is an asset, not a liability. On January 20, the US resumed consideration of pending applications to export American liquefied natural gas to countries without a free-trade agreement with the US.
4. Promote affordability and consumer choice in home appliances:
A top US priority will be to ensure that American families can choose from a range of affordable home appliances and products. My department will initiate a comprehensive review of the DOE Appliance Standards Program. Any standards should include a cost-benefit analysis considering the upfront cost of purchasing new products and reflecting actual cost savings for American families.
5. Refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve:
The SPR is a national asset that protects our security in times of crisis. It must be refilled. Unfortunately, the SPR is currently at historically low levels. We will not permit this to become a new status quo.
6. Modernise America’s nuclear stockpile:
We urgently need to modernise the nation’s nuclear weapons systems. My department will continue its critical mission of protecting our national security and nuclear deterrence in the development, modernisation and stewardship of America’s atomic weapons enterprise, including the peaceful use of nuclear technology and non-proliferation.
7. Unleash commercial nuclear power in the US:
The long-awaited American nuclear renaissance must launch during President Trump’s administration. As global energy demand continues to grow, America must lead the commercialisation of affordable and abundant nuclear energy. As such, the department will work diligently and creatively to enable the rapid deployment and export of next-generation nuclear technology.
8. Strengthen grid reliability and security:
Fortifying America’s electric grid is critical to the reliable and secure delivery of electricity. Under President Trump’s Executive Order, “Declaring a National Energy Emergency”, the department will identify and exercise all lawful authorities to strengthen the nation’s grid, including the backbone of the grid, our transmission system. Moreover, after two decades of very slow demand growth, electricity demand is forecast to soar in the coming years.
9. Streamline permitting and identify undue burdens on American energy:
The US will prioritise more efficient permitting to enable private sector investments and build the energy infrastructure needed to make energy more affordable, reliable and secure.
Appendix II Campaign Promises
This is an extract from an essay I wrote in November 2024. It details the likely reforms of the new administration based on Trump’s campaign promises. (See Coming to Grips with Trump, Quadrant Online, January 19th, 2025.)
****
Trump’s ambitious reforms aim to change the political landscape significantly. Major changes can be expected to include:
Devolution of Power
Power will revert to the elected President and Congress.
The federal bureaucracy will be scaled back. Some departments may be abolished, and others will be reduced to their Congress approved roles. Many responsibilities currently handled by the federal government will be transferred to the states.
Where feasible, decision-making will be devolved to lower levels—states, communities, families, and individuals. Abortion laws will remain determined at the state level. Parents will gain more influence over their children's education, particularly concerning curriculum and values. Overall, decisions will be made rationally and locally, not ideologically and remotely.
International bodies will have less influence. The U.S. will resist rules and regulations that infringe on its sovereignty. It will withdraw from the Paris Agreement and may reduce its support for the United Nations and its agencies. The influence of other supranational bodies may also decline.
Military power will be strengthened, not for aggression but as a deterrent. The U.S. will eschew involvement in wars, particularly other people’s wars. Provision of military aid to friendly nations will be by way of trade, not benevolence. Allies will be expected to pay their own way.
Economic reform
There will be reduced government intervention and regulation. Crony capitalism will be curbed, with fewer benefits going to elite friends of government. Regulatory agencies will no longer be funded by, and under the thrall of, the industries they are supposed to regulate.
Taxes will be lowered, putting more resources in the hands of individuals, families, and successful businesses.
Businesses will thrive as red tape is minimized, allowing them to provide products and services more quickly and efficiently for their customers. Similarly, there will be less green tape; projects will be allowed to proceed expeditiously, not delayed by contrived complaints.
International trade will not be to the detriment of American citizens. U.S. firms will be persuaded by taxes and tariffs to make goods locally. Of course this is a change that will take time. You cannot build factories, train a workforce and establish a supply chain overnight. But eventually local manufacture will provide jobs and have other positive social effects in the communities in which they operate.
Energy Production and Agriculture
Energy production, particularly oil and gas, will increase. Subsidies for renewable energy will be phased out. Consequently, energy will become cheaper for American businesses and that will facilitate more domestic manufacturing. Europe and Japan will be able to source energy from the U.S., reducing their reliance on suppliers like Iran and Russia.
Agricultural practices will be reformed. Regenerative farming will reduce carbon emissions. Less use of chemicals, herbicides, insecticides and concentrated monocrops will improve the health of agricultural soil and water. Robert Kennedy Jr. hopes to make children’s food healthier by stripping additives such as fats, starches, sugars, and food dyes out of processed foods.
Social and Cultural changes
The First Amendment will be upheld, ensuring that everyone’s right to free speech and religious freedom is respected. The truth of ideas will be determined through public debate, not dictated by experts or a majority consensus. The government will not interfere with individuals’ free speech or their ability to express contentious opinions.
The censorship cartel of the social media giants will be dismantled.
Women's rights will be protected. Access to woman’s sport will be restricted to natal women. Men will not be allowed in women’s toilets, changing rooms, or other private spaces.
Immigration will be restricted to individuals who embrace American values and contribute positively to society. Citizenship will be highly valued. Illegal immigrants will be deported.
The justice and policing systems will be reformed. There will be a focus on reducing violent crime and eliminating the drug cartels. The political misuse of the judicial system will cease.
Family formation will be promoted through family-friendly tax policies, welfare support, and opportunities for stable, long-term employment. Strengthening family life will help address social issues such as fatherless households - currently a cause of violence and dysfunction in many American communities. (See Faust & Manning, Them Before Us.) Parents will regain the authority to determine what can be done to their children.
