From The Australian on 20th February 2017:

“The Hurstville Boys Campus of Georges River College in Sydney recently hosted an awards ceremony at which female presenters, including several accomplished and respected members of the local community, were told by one of the school’s two principals that some students would not shake their hands because of their Muslim faith.”

I think this is a serious error of judgement.

It sends a message to these young men that women are inferior and may be treated with disrespect.

New laws are proposed to strip citizenship from those who oppose our principles and our way of life – specifically those who go overseas and fight for ISIS.


This gives us pause for thought. What do we believe in? What are the characteristics that define what it is to be Australian? To what extent might one hold different views but still remain a citizen?  If we define clearly what is required of an Australian citizen, might this impact our immigration policy?
